Dealer 

Job Description 

Minchin Moore provides holistic financial advice to individuals, families and institutional clients. A central part of this roles is the stewardship of client investment portfolios under our ‘Managed Discretionary Account’ service. 

Our evidence based investment process is underpinned by our documented Investment Charter and Investment Philosophy and overseen by our Investment Committee. 

The Dealer is an integral role within the Investments Team and is responsible for the implementation of portfolios and the execution of trades and portfolio rebalances. The Dealer also supports the Chief Investment Officer and Associate Portfolio Manager with all facets of the Minchin Moore investment process and Portfolio Management Service. 

Core Accountabilities 

Trade Execution

  • Managing and executing trades and portfolio rebalances in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy 
  • Implementation of portfolios 
  • Executing trades across multiple platforms and across ASX listed securities and managed funds 
  • Establishment of Regular Investment Plans 
  • Placement of Term Deposits 
  • Careful execution of trades to prevent errors 
  • Record keeping – saving completed portfolio rebalances to the client file 
  • Compliance with policies and procedures established to manage trade execution risk 

Portfolio Management Support

  • Assist with management of corporate actions process 
  • Assist with portfolio performance reporting 
  • Assist with cash balance monitoring 
  • Assist with management of term deposit process 
  • Assist with model portfolio performance reporting 
  • Assist with maintaining portfolio datafeed integrity 
  • Answer queries from Advisers and other support staff
  • Undertake other tasks as required to support the delivery of the Portfolio Management service 

Technical Skills

  • 2 years+ experience in equities trading or in financial planning portfolio trade execution 
  • Sound knowledge of ASX listed securities trading elements 
  • Highly numerate 
  • Process oriented 
  • Diligent, organised, methodical 
  • RG146 Accreditation – Equities 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a finance discipline 
  • Demonstration of commitment towards further education 
  • Systems experience: IRESS, IOS, Wrap Platforms, Excel, XPLAN

Senior Paraplanner 

The Paraplanner will report directly to the Operations Manager. 

Primary Responsibilities 
The primary responsibilities of the Senior Paraplanner are: 

  • Preparing high quality, accurate, timely and compliant statements of advice (SoA’s) on behalf of the advisers of Minchin Moore. 
  • Working closely with the advisers in developing complex strategies for new and existing clients 
  • Assisting the Advisers to ensure that all elements of the advice process are conducted in an ethical and compliant manner, in accordance with Minchin Moore policy, procedures and the law. 
  • Assisting the advisers with modelling, insurance quantification, product research investment recommendations (with the help of the Portfolio Management Team) and obtaining required information necessary for the preparation of the SoAs.
  • Undertaking various administrative tasks as required.

 Key Performance Indicators 

  • Ensure timely communication with the Operations Manager and Advisers on progress of workflow. 
  • Ensure that documents produced are high quality and accurate. 
  • Ensure all facets of the advice process are conducted in a compliant manner.

Associate Adviser  

The Paraplanner will report directly to the Operations Manager. 

 Job Description 

The Associate Adviser’s primary role is to assist the Principal Advisers with the process of developing and subsequently implementing client advice and strategy. 

Associate Advisers are assigned their own list of clients, and together with the Principal Advisers they provide those clients with holistic advice and support. 

The Associate Adviser is responsible for the client file, the documentation of advice, the proper retention of compliance records, and the implementation of client strategies. 

Being a key part of the advice process, the Associate Adviser is required to attend Annual Strategic Review meetings with clients, alongside the Principal Adviser. 

The day-to-day work of an Associate Adviser includes producing Statements of Advice (SoAs), developing at times complex financial strategies, preparing the associated forms and paperwork, and ultimately the lodgement of forms and follow up associated with the implementation of the advice. 

The Associate Adviser will report directly to the Practice Manager. 

Primary Responsibilities 
The primary responsibilities of the Associate Adviser are: 

Key Performance Indicators 

  • Working closely with the Principal Advisers in developing complex strategies for new and existing clients. 
  • Developing a rapport and working relationship with his/her own list of clients. 
  • Liaising with super fund and insurance providers to obtain information on clients’ policies. 
  • Preparing high quality, accurate, timely and compliant SoAs. 
  • Assisting the Principal Advisers to ensure that all elements of the advice process are conducted in an ethical and compliant manner, in accordance with Minchin Moore policy, and the law. 
  • Managing the process of implementing the advice outlined in the SoAs. This may include the preparation of application forms, redemption/rollover forms, liaising with clients to ensure paperwork is signed and returned, liaising with clients through the insurance underwriting process, etc. 
  • Proactively assisting in the management of the client review process. This can include the preparation of “reverse fact finds”, contacting existing clients to update their information in Xplan and reviewing their recommended strategies and making appropriate changes. 
  • Assisting the Principal Advisers with financial modelling using XPLAN. 
  • Assisting the Practice Manager and Principal Advisers with workload management to meet and exceed client / potential client expectations.
  • Undertaking various administrative tasks to support the Principal Advisers and the business.
  • Communicating consistently with the Practice Manager and Principal Advisers regarding the progress of SoAs and implementation of advice for clients.

  • Ensure timely communication with the Practice Manager and Principal Advisers on progress of workflow. 
  • Ensure that documents and advice produced are high quality, accurate and compliant. 
  • Ensure all facets of the advice process are conducted in a compliant and timely manner.
